Hey guys and girls!
Some of you don’t know me but I’m Simon. I’ve been at the church for as long as I have been able to walk and have been a part of the MYF for as long as I’ve been old enough. I did however spend six years up in Townsville AKA “The Ville” studying at James Cook University. During this time I made it to Youth only when I was back in Brisbane and missed out on heaps of awesome Youth Camps. However, the times that I did make it back over the years was always amazing.
I haven’t really had an opportunity to express this, but wow. Over the last 8 years the amount of growth and the amount of maturity has been astounding. I’ve known some of you guys since you were in nappies (truly), and it amazes me at how much the Youth has grown in number and how much everyone has grown spiritually. I just want to take this opportunity to encourage you guys. If there is ever a time when you feel stagnant or when you question whether what you are doing in the Youth is actually achieving something, take a step back. Think back to when you first started attending the MYF or JMYF and then look at how far we have come.
There was a period of time when there would only be a handful of people turning up on Saturday nights at Youth and now we have more than that turning up to Bible Study! We have amazing talent in music, chefs, people who know how to work all the buttons and knobs for audio visuals (something that forever will confuse me) and people with the friendliest personalities I have ever seen.
Praise God! He is moving in our Youth. He is guiding this group of awesome individuals and turning it into something incredible. Keep up the faith, keep praying and keep living for our God! Amen!
